All praise is to the One whom all Dignity, Honor and Glory are due; the Unique with perfect attributes, Who begets not, nor is He begotten. He has no equal but He is the Almighty, Omnipotent. He sent His Messengers and Prophets to guide humanity towards monotheism; to worship Him alone, the only One Worthy of worship, and to warn them of the eternal dire consequences of polytheism, associating partners with One Allāh and the worship of creatures.
Peace and blessings of Allāh be upon all the Prophets and Messengers, especially on Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him), the last of the Prophets, and on all who follow him in righteousness until the Day of Recompense.
The only religion in the whole world, that believes in Jesus [ʿĪsā] (Upon Whom Be Peace) and testifies to Christianity is Islām. Muslims believe, that Jesus (Upon Whom Be Peace) was one of the mightiest Messengers of Allāh; that he was born miraculously ― without any male intervention; that he gave life to the dead by Allāh’s permission, and that he healed the born blind and the lepers by Allāh’s permission. A person is not considered a Muslim, unless, he or she believes in Jesus (Upon Whom Be Peace). Muslims believe, that Allāh delivered the Gospel ― Injeel to Jesus (Upon Whom Be Peace), just as He did Torah ― Taurāt to Moses [Mūsā] (Upon Whom Be Peace), the Old Testament ― Zabūr to David [Dāwūd] (Upon Whom Be Peace) and The Mighty Qur’ān to Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).
Islām also assigns a very high degree of respect to the mother of Jesus (Upon Whom Be Peace), Mary [Maryam]. There is an exclusive chapter in the Qur’ān on the mother of Jesus (Upon Whom Be Peace) by the name ‘Maryam’. The Qur’ān claims that Jesus (Upon Whom Be Peace) knew no sin, whereas all other men are imperfect. Gabriel [Jibrīl] told Mary [Maryam] that her son would be ‘Without fault’. The Bible confirms this truth and further relates, that though Jesus (Upon Whom Be Peace) was tempted in all things ― just as we are ― He never sinned.
Jesus (Upon Whom Be Peace) represents the common link between Islām and Christianity, having the most followers on the earth today.
Now the question arises.
Why this post?
Allāh says in the Mighty Qur’ān:
❝And nearest among them (to whom the scriptures were given before) in love to the believers (Muslims) will thou find those who say, “We are Christians”: Beacuse among these are men devoted to learning, and men who have renounced the world, and they are not arrogant.❞
― sūrah al-Māʾidah (The Table), Chapter 5, verse 85
So with a hope that this post may help you understand the teachings of Jesus (Upon Whom Be Peace) better, I pray that Allāh guides all of you to truth and grant you the ultimate success on the Day of Judgement.
❝And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free❞
― John 8:32
Who was Jesus (Upon Whom Be Peace)?
❝Behold! The angels said: “O Mary! God giveth thee glad tidings of a word from Him: His name will be Christ Jesus, the son of Mary, held in honor in this world and the hereafter and (of the company of) those nearest to God❞
― sūrah Āl ʿImrān (The Family of Imran), Chapter 3, verse 45
Throughout the Qur’ān, Jesus (Upon Whom Be Peace) is identified fundamentally as a Messenger of Allāh.
In sūrah al-Ṣaff (Ranks), Chapter 61, verse 6, Allāh quotes Jesus as follows:
❝And [remember] when Jesus, Son of Mary [ʿĪsā ibn Maryam], said: “O Children of Israel, I am the Messenger of Allāh sent to you, confirming the Torah (Taurāt) [which came] before me.❞
There are many verses in the New Testament supporting the Messengership/Prophethood of Jesus (Upon Whom Be Peace). For example,
❝And the crowds said, “This is the Prophet, Jesus of Nazareth of Galilee❞
― Matthew 21:11
Another example that proves my point is,
❝For there is one God, and one mediator (Messenger/Prophet) between God and men, the man Jesus Christ.❞
― 1st Timothy, 2:5 (Paul)
Was Jesus (Upon Whom Be Peace), God?
In the Book of Revelation 1, verse 8, it is mentioned that Jesus (Upon Whom Be Peace) said about himself,
❝I am the Alpha and the Omega, the begining and the end, which is and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty❞
In the revised Standard version, biblical scholars corrected the same as,
❝The Lord God says,”I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end, which is and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty”❞
Thus, with this revision, it becomes clear that this was a statement of God and not a statement of Jesus (Upon Whom Be Peace).
Was Jesus (Upon Whom Be Peace), the Son of God?
Jesus never called himself ‘Son of God‘ but he used to call himself the ‘Son of Man‘ ― Mark 2:10
According to the Biblical term in the Old and New Testaments, every God-fearing righteous person is called ‘Son of God’.
In Matthew 5:9, one can read,
❝Blessed are the peace-makers, for they shall be called the children of God❞
Further, in Matthew 5:45, one can see,
❝That ye may be children of your Father which is in heaven..❞
❝And the demons also came out of many, crying, “You are the Son of God!’ But he rebuked them, and would not allow them to speak, because they knew that he was the Christ.❞
― Luke 4:41
Also, in John 20:17, Jesus (Upon Whom Be Peace) told Mary Magdalene to tell his followers:
❝I ascend unto my Father and your Father; and to my God and your God.❞
Jesus’ reference to God as ‘my Father and your Father‘ emphasizes the distinction between himself and God. Further, by referring to God as ‘his God’, he left no room for anyone to intelligently claim that he was either God or Son of God.
Miracles of Jesus (Upon Whom Be Peace)
The Qur’ān confirms Jesus’ miracles, the ones mentioned in the Bible and the ones not mentioned in the Bible.
His first miracle was him defending his mother from people who accused her of fornication. When people accused her, she (Mary/Maryam) pointed out to her new born baby (Jesus):
❝[When] she pointed at him, they asked, “How can we talk to a child in the cradle?” He [Jesus (Upon Whom Be Peace)] said, “Indeed, I am a servant of God. He gave me the scripture and made me a Prophet❞
― sūrah Maryam (Mary), Chapter 19, verse 29-30
Jesus (Upon Whom Be Peace) preached Islām. Period.
Ever since people joined others in worship along with Allāh, Allāh had been sending Messengers in order to invite people back to the worship of One true God (Allāh), alone, to order them not ascribe partners with Him, and bring them out of the darkness of polytheism into the light of monotheism. All the Messengers and Prophets preached monotheism, the Belief in the Oneness of Allāh, the Glorious, the elevated. The following verse from the Qur’ān illustrates this fact:
❝And verily, We have sent among every community/nation a Messenger (proclaimimg): Worship Allāh (Alone) and avoid (all false dieties)❞
― sūrah al-Naḥl (The Bee), Chapter 16, verse 36
Further, Allāh says in the Mighty Qur’ān:
❝They (the disbelievers) used to disbelieve the Ayāt (Proofs, Evidences, Verses) of Allāh and killed the Prophets❞
― sūrah al-Baqarah (The Cow), Chapter 2, verse 61
The Bible confirms the same message.
❝Therefore, I am sending you Prophets and sages and teachers. Some of them you will kill and crucify; others you will flog in your synagogues and pursue from town to town❞
― Matthew 23:34
❝The LORD, the God of their ancestors, sent word to them through His Messengers again and again, because He had pity on His dwelling place❞
― Chronicles 36:15
❝God in His wisdom said, “I will send them Prophets and Apostles, some of whom they will kill and others they will persecute.❞
― Luke 11:49
When these Prophets and Messengers preached monotheism, the Belief in the Oneness of Allāh, they were mocked by the disbelievers.
Allāh says in the Mighty Qur’ān:
❝And indeed (many) Messengers wer mocked before you.❞
― sūrah al-Anʿām (Cattle), Chapter 6, verse 10
The same has been said in the Bible.
❝But they mocked God’s Messengers, despised His (Allāh’s) words and scoffed at His Prophets❞
― Chronicles 36:16
Jesus (Upon Whom Be Peace) preached the same message, the message of ‘Monotheism’:
❝Hear O Israel, the Lord thy God is One❞
― Mark 12:28-30
❝And this is life eternal, that they might know Thee, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom Thou has sent.❞
― John 17:3
Just like every other Messenger and Prophet, who were sent for their community/nation, Jesus (Upon Whom Be Peace) was sent for Israel.
❝And, behold, a woman of Cannan, came out of the same coasts and cried unto him, saying, “Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou son of David: my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil.” He (Jesus) answered: “I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel”❞
― Matthew 15:22-28
Prophecy on the advent of Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him)
I will provide you all with three strong proofs from the Bible, that prophecizes the advent of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).
❝If you love me, keep my commandments. And I will pray the Father and He shall give you another Comforter that he may abide with you forever❞
― John 14:15-16
The ‘another Comforter’ here being spoken of is Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) and ‘abide forever’ means his laws and way of life (Shariah) and the Qur’ān revealed to him.
❝And the Book is delivered to him that is not learned, saying “Read!” and He saith, “I am not learned.”❞
― Isaiah, 29:12
History tells us that Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) was forty years of age, when he was in the cave of Hira some three miles north of the City of Mecca. It was in the 27th night of Ramadān, when the Archangel Gabriel comes for the first time, and commands him ‘IQRA‘ which means ‘READ!‘ At this point Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) is terrified and replies, “I am not learned.“ History knows that Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) was unlettered.
❝My (God’s) words which he shall speak in My name❞
― Deuteronomy 18:19
Open the Holy Qur’ān. Look at the beginning of every Chapter (except the ninth chapter) in the Mighty Book. You will find ❝Bi-smi llāhi r-raḥmāni r-raḥīm❞ which means ❝In The Name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.❞ The Prophecy demanded the same.
Allāh says in the Mighty Qur’ān:
❝Say: “O people of the Book (Jews and Christians)! Come to the common terms as between us and you: That we worship none but God; That we associate no partners with Him; That we erect not, from among ourselves, Lords and Patrons other than God❞
― sūrah Āl ʿImrān (The Family of Imran), Chapter 3, Verse 64
O Learned People! You claim to be the recipients of Divine Revelation, the Holy Scripture. Worship none but Allāh, and submit your will to him because,
❝Thou Shalt have NONE other gods before Me (Allāh)… for I, the Lord, thy God, am a jealous God❞
― Deuteronomy 5:7-9
I hope that this post may help you and I would like to thank you for reading my post. In Shā’Allāh, in my next post, I will discuss about the prophecies about Muslims from the Bible.
Anything written of benefit is from Allāh alone, and anything written of error is from me.
Peace Be Upon You!
